VINNAPAS® Resin Applications for Acoustic Panels

Automotive metal components tend to produce noise under vibration. VINNAPAS® Winners® UW resin can serve as a key component of sound insulation panels, boasting outstanding sound insulation performance across a wide temperature range. Compared with asphalt sound insulation panels, it delivers better sound insulation effect, and features superior coatability and light weight. Formulated with plasticizers, fillers and other ingredients, it is processed via extrusion molding. Coating it with pressure-sensitive adhesive can strengthen its adhesion to metals.

VINNAPAS® Resin Applications for Acoustic Panels

A major problem in the automotive industry is noise caused by vibration of automobile metal parts. Excessive noise can be reduced or eliminated by high-performance sound insulation materials. VINNAPAS® UW resins serve as key ingredients for high-efficiency vibration damping materials and sound insulation panels, and possess outstanding sound insulation performance across a wide temperature range.

Compared with asphalt-based sound insulation panels, panels formulated with VINNAPAS® UW resins deliver superior sound insulation effect due to their high molecular weight and chemical composition. They also feature excellent coating performance, easy application and lower overall weight. Besides VINNAPAS® UW resins, the formula generally consists of plasticizers, fillers and carbon black. Common applicable fillers mainly include calcium carbonate and mica. Plasticizers are added to adjust the sound insulation panels to ideal flexibility and applicable temperature range.

VINNAPAS® resins are compatible with a wide range of plasticizers. The most commonly used ones include phthalates, phosphates and glycol derivatives. Raw materials are blended in an extruder and then processed into thin sheets. Coating these sheets with conventional emulsion-based pressure-sensitive adhesives can enhance their adhesion to metals.
