VINNAPAS® Resin Used in Coatings
VINNAPAS® solid resin can enhance the adhesion, water resistance, abrasion resistance and flexibility of coatings. With high transparency, it can replace natural resins. The N series is suitable for porous materials; the C series is applied to metal primers and aluminum-coated paper, while the VL series offers superior flexibility. Compatible with a wide range of fillers, this resin can be used to produce concrete sealants and thermal insulation coatings, fitting diverse application scenarios.

Whether you require high adhesion, water resistance and abrasion resistance, or outstanding flexibility, VINNAPAS® solid resins can bring remarkable advantages to a wide range of coating systems.
Featuring extremely high transparency, VINNAPAS® solid resins are ideal for many applications that traditionally adopt natural resins. Notably, low-to-medium viscosity grades (N 5 SP – N 100) can be used as synthetic resin components in nitrocellulose coatings such as maple varnishes, poster and label coatings. Coatings with various viscosities and hardness levels can be formulated by selecting different VINNAPAS® series.
For porous materials including wood, gypsum and masonry with primer coats, low-viscosity VINNAPAS® grades like N 1.5SP and N 5 SP are perfectly suitable for preparing coatings with high filler loading and excellent sprayability. Completely colorless in nature, these resins keep the original surface color unchanged after priming, while ensuring superior adhesion and good recoatability. Adding plasticizers can also help optimize coating properties in such applications.
Containing carboxyl functional groups, VINNAPAS® C series delivers excellent adhesion, making it the preferred choice for priming metal surfaces such as aluminum foils. VINNAPAS® C 305 is soluble in alkaline water, yet its dry film boasts favorable water resistance.
In addition, the C series shows strong adhesion to paper and corrugated cardboard, so it is recommended as primer coats for vacuum aluminum deposition on such substrates. It can be blended with non-functional VINNAPAS® resins to adjust adhesion and mechanical properties to meet practical demands. High-viscosity non-functional VINNAPAS® UW series also performs well in vacuum aluminum coating processes.
VINNAPAS® VL series features exceptional flexibility and can firmly bond to diverse plastic substrates, aluminum materials and glass. Hence it is well-suited for manufacturing soft-touch coatings and screen printing inks. With excellent compatibility with various polymers, VL series can act as non-migratory polymeric plasticizers, which are widely applied in nitrocellulose-based systems.
VINNAPAS® resins exhibit outstanding binding capacity for pigments and fillers, enabling high pigment loading in formulated products. Thanks to their neutral pH value, VINNAPAS® N and UW series are compatible with both neutral and slightly alkaline pigments and fillers in formulations.
Practically verified, low and medium viscosity VINNAPAS® solid resins are applicable to the production of concrete sealants and thermal insulation coatings for gypsum boards. Apart from reducing dust emission by enhancing abrasion resistance, these coatings can effectively prevent penetration of oils, greases and moisture. Typical indoor applications cover basement floors and staircases. For outdoor scenarios, Wacker VINNOL® resins are highly recommended.
